Supporting South Australian police officers and their families

Today the South Australian policing community woke to the tragic news of the fatal shooting of police officer, Brevet Sergeant Jason Doig sustained on duty. Sergeant Michael Hutchinson sustained non-life-threatening gunshot injuries and is in a stable condition. Constable Rebekah Cass was not physically injured but is being supported through this traumatic event.
Our deepest condolences go out to the families, friends and colleagues of these officers. We would like to acknowledge all police and first responders who assisted at the scene and who will support one another moving forward. No one goes to work expecting not to return home and this is a very sad day for the South Australia Police and the blue family.
SA Police Legacy’s core purpose is to support the families of fallen or injured police officers and we remain committed to ensuring the sacrifice made by police officers in the line of duty is honoured.
