Serving Members

We provide financial support and personal development opportunities to serving sworn South Australia Police officers.

Membership

All sworn serving members are automatically members of SA Police Legacy.

“I donate to SA Police Legacy because I know from personal experience that it goes to help members and their families at a time when they are suffering the most.  Financial assistance and or support programs for families who have lost serving or retired members goes a long way to rebuilding people’s lives and it is pleasing to know that my small contribution plays a part in that.”

  • Member Health Grant – when faced with a serious illness or injury, members and their immediate families can apply for this grant. Eligibility criteria apply.
  • Bereavement Grant – Financial support is available to serving sworn members when there is a death of a non-police spouse/partner, child or dependent within their household. Eligibility criteria apply.

Member Health Grant

Serving sworn members and their immediate family are eligible to apply for this grant which provides financial support when faced with a serious illness or injury.

Generally, once a successful Member Health Grant has been approved by the Board and paid, the applicant cannot apply for another Member Health Grant within five years of payment. In extenuating circumstances, the Board will consider a second application. Approval of Member Health Grants are made at the Board’s discretion including the amount of the grant based on the information received in the application.

“I contribute to SA Police Legacy because they are a wonderful organisation who assist members and/or their families when needed most. We are blessed to live in the best country in the world with a very high standard of living and facilities available, but you never know when something random can happen to upset this balance. This is where SA Police Legacy step in and do a fantastic job. Keep up the great work! Thank you.”
