New Grants – Available Now!

We have some exciting news to share!

Thanks to the generosity of our members and donors – both big and small – we are now offering a range of new financial grants to support our Young Legatees.

We understand that cost of living pressures is particularly tough now and hope these new and updated grants go some way toward providing relief. At SA Police Legacy, we are very conscious that raising a family on one income is especially difficult. These new grants have been created with that in mind.

After listening to feedback from Legatees about what supports would be most useful in the years ahead, and an analysis of current costs facing families, we are proud to announce the following new grants:

* NEW Yr 7 HIGH SCHOOL TECHNOLOGY GRANT *

Each Young Legatee entering Year 7 can access this once-off new grant of $1 000 to go towards the purchase of a laptop or personal computer for school.

Effective 1st July 2025

* NEW OSHC SUPPORT GRANT *

Each Young Legatee enrolled in Primary School is now eligible for up to $200 per year for Out of School Hours Care (OSHC). This can be used towards OSHC before or after school or during school holidays.

Effective 1st July 2025

* NEW CHILDMINDING GRANT *

To help more adult Legatees attend SA Police Legacy and other social events, we’ve introduced a $200 annual grant for childminding. This is available each year for children up to the age of 14, helping to ease the challenge of finding childminding so that adults can stay socially connected.

Effective 1st July 2025

* NEW CHILDCARE GRANT *

Funding of up to $1 500 per child each year to go towards childcare up to the time the child starts primary school. This can be used for childcare or accredited family daycare.

Effective 1st January 2026

We are also delighted to announce increases to the following grants:

* INCREASED SAFE DRIVING GRANT *

Our Safe Driving Grant is being increased from $900 to $1 200 per Young Legatee. This is a one-off allowance to help cover license and testing fees as well as driving lessons.

Effective 1st July 2025

* INCREASED EDUCATION GRANT FOR RECEPTION STUDENTS *

When children start primary school, it can be expensive. That’s why we are increasing our current education grant for

Reception students from $800 to $1 200 to help cover the costs of school fees, uniforms, school shoes, runners, and

school bags.

Effective 1st January 2026

* INCREASED EDUCATION GRANT FOR YEAR 7 STUDENTS *

Starting secondary school is also financially challenging for families, which is why we have increased our education

grant for Year 7 students from $1 300 to $1 800.

Effective 1st January 2026

These enhancements are only possible because of the heartfelt and ongoing generosity of our donors.

We continue to offer the following support for our Young Legatees:

– An annual Wellbeing Grant thanks to Police Health – $500 per calendar year

– One-off Personal Development Grant – $2 500

– One-off Job Start Grant – this grant has been reduced from $1 500 to $500

– Annual Education Grants for all primary, secondary and tertiary education students

We encourage our Legatee families to make the most of these new and increased grants.
